The 2019 PBA D-League draft will be happening today! This is an important even for the league because one of the requirements to enter the PBA draft is a number of games played in D League.
So, who are the premium amateur players who will enter this year's D League?
Juan Gomez de Liano
A young guard who is in the same mold as Scottie Thompson. In the 1st round of the 2018 UAAP season, he averaged 19.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the University of the Philippines. He has a legit knock for scoring, inside and outside.
Sean Manganti
He was given the monicker "UP Killer" because of his clutch shots against the University of the Philippines. His UAAP career averages are 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
AC Soberano
He is a deadeye shooter of the San Beda Red Lions. He won two NCAA All-Stars Three-Point Shootouts already, including 2018.
Joshua Munzon
Munzon was one of the best Filipino players in the Asean Basketball League in 2018 and 2017. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be considered for the #1 pick if he fulfills all the requirement to enter the 2019 draft. His career per-game averages in the ABL are 21.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
Santi Santillan
Santillan took advantage of his increased playing time in the 2018 UAAP season to establish himself as a legit PBA 1st rounder. He was praised as a very skilled bigman who knows how to do the small things to help his team win.
Troy Rike
Troy got a massive hype when he practiced with Gilas 23-for-23 but failed to live up to it in the 2018 UAAP season. That doesn't mean though that the potential is not there. His shooting form is good and has shown the ability to read plays and the make the right moves.
Rey Suerte
You may not be familiar with Suerte because he is not playing in NCAA or UAAP but he was the man in Cebu for the past three years. He was the Most Valuable Player of CESAFI in two of the last three seasons of the league.
