Unfortunately, it happened again. Kevin Alas endured another ACL tear on the same knee, limiting his return from the same injury into just five games.
With the said injury, Kevin Alas 2019 season is almost over, unless he heals so fast that he could catch-up with the team in the last conference of the season.
With another huge injury for the #2 pick of the 2014 draft, a cloud of questions is facing the NLEX franchise.
The biggest though is, should they still treat him as their future starting guard beside Kiefer Ravena?
I think the answer should be no.
With his injury history, it is hard to trust him as the primary partner of Kiefer in the next five to eight years.
Thus, the time has come for them to give as much opportunity to their current crop of guards.
As usual for coach Yeng Guiao, he has developed four capable guards who can play big minutes. They are Pedrito Galanza, Philip Paniamogan, Kenneth Ighalo and Mark Tallo.
Out of the four, Galanza has been receiving the most playing time due to his fluidity, size and consistent outside shot.
Knowing the desire of coach Yeng to win a championship, a trade will always be a possibility. Their sister-team Meralco Bolts are loaded in quality young guards that they may try to run with.
How about cashing in on the new-found hype of Marion Magat to get Mike Tolomia?
