PBA News: Chris Ellis is back... in Thailand

Remember the 2012 draft?

It was one of the greatest draft batches in the history of the league. You do not believe me? Here are the top 10 players out of that draft.

#1 June Mar Fajardo
#2 Calvin Abueva
#3 Alex Mallari
#4 Cliff Hodge
#5 Aldrech Ramos
#7 Chris Tiu
#9 Vic Manuel
#12 Dave Marcelo
#17 Kelly Nabong

Do you remember the guy between Ramos and Tiu? Yes, it was Chris Ellis. By the way, he is of course part of the top 10.

Chris Ellis entered the league with a lot of hype due to his unparallel explosion and his showing in the Philippine national team.

For five seasons, Ginebra hold-on to the promise of Chris Ellis. Unfortunately, he failed to breakout and reached the promise of stardom.

So in August 2017, he was shipped to Blackwater together with Dave Marcelo for Art Dela Cruz and Raymond Aguilar.

It is pretty obvious now who won that trade.

After more than a year out of the sight of Philippine basketball, Ellis is back playing in the Thai Basketball Super League.

He made a rousing debut with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.

Although the numbers are tantalizing, do not be overzealous about it because TBSL may not even be on par with the PBA D-League in terms of quality.

The biggest question now is, will he find his way back into the PBA?
