PBA News: If Blackwater wants a coaching change, they should consider these three

The Blackwater Elite is back to the bottom of the PBA after a promising 2018 Governors' Cup.

What can we expect? They traded their best player, JP Erram, and another starter, John Pinto. And Bobby Ray Parks Jr. decided to play in the ABL instead of joining them for this conference.

That disappointed the owner of the team, Mr. Dioceldo Sy, who hinted about a push for changes in the player roster and even in the coaching staff.

Today, let us do it differently. I want to name three interesting coaching candidates for the Elite.

Coach Charles Tiu
The brother of the newly retired former Rain or Shine player, Chris Tiu, is building up a pretty good resume that will surely give him a coaching opportunity in the PBA in the future. He just led Mighty Sports into a 3rd place finish in the Dubai Invitational.

He implements a modern offense, which is a good try these days. The great thing about young coaches is their willingness to follow trends which are statistically proven instead of staying into the traditional ways where some of them were already outdated.

Coach Richard Del Rosario
If you are going to try a new coach, why not get from the coaching tree of the greatest coach in the history of the PBA? Coach Richard Del Rosario is currently the 1st assistant of coach Tim Cone and had impressed coach Tim when he got the opportunity to lead, once in a while.

Coach Richard and Coach Tim started their working relationship in 2011 and had been together for eight championships. The combination of his championship experience and the knowledge that he learned from coach Tim is tantalizing enough for him to get a chance.

Coach Eric Altamirano
How about strengthening their connection to Bobby Ray Parks Jr.? Again, hate him or love him, Ray Parks will enter the PBA as one of the top 15 players in the league with the potential of being one of the top 3. His 15.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 53% FG and 41% 3FG per game in the current season of the ABL is good evidence for that.

Coach Eric was the coach of Bobby in his days in NU where he won two UAAP Most Valuable Player awards. Coach Eric was already a successful coach, winning an unprecedented UAAP crown in 2014. He is currently with Alaska Aces, who had been overachieving over the years.

He could be the key to keeping Bobby Ray Parks, happy.
