Remember the trade rumor about a top rookie being traded? Coach John Cardel of Columbian Dyip told ESPN5 that CJ Perez will not be traded anytime soon.
The exact statement of coach Cardel was "there's no truth to that [rumor]. There have been rumors before that CJ will be heading to Ginebra, but again, those are plain rumors."
First, let us establish the fact the Dyip franchise has a history of not involving their coach in trade negotiations. Remember the days when their former coach Chris Gavina told the media that he will not trade their 2017 top pick?
What I am trying to say, is it doesn't matter if coach John denies it. If Columbian will trade CJ, they could do it without his consent.
Actually, coach Cardel talked about a trade possibility that I did not hear before. I never heard a concrete rumor about a Perez to Ginebra deal.
And in terms of fit, I do not think CJ will be a good piece for Ginebra. He needs the ball to work his offense and he is not a shooter from beyond the arc.
Now, if what he said is true, it means we are now down to Trevis Jackson, Robert Bollick, Paul Desiderio and Abu Tratter as possibilities.
Unless the negotiation for CJ Perez actually happened but failed to be completed for some reasons.
Out of the remaining possibilities, Robert Bollick and Trevis Jackson are the good bets. Trevis Jackson can find his way to TNT to provide a spark to the old guard rotation of TNT. On the other hand, North Port can withstand losing Bollick for a good wing or a good big.
