At 26 years old, the answer to this question is an easy one. Ginebra should still be patient with Earl Scottie Thompson and according to some sources, that it is their decision.
Although, I will not blame the Ginebra fans who are getting tired of him.
Just like in their last game against TNT, where he played 34 minutes, he ended up with 0 point, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.
Yes, I understand that he is more of a do-it-all player but for a guy to play 34 minutes and fail to score a single point is actually alarming.
This is actually his second game in this conference that he ended up not scoring a single point. The first one happened against San Miguel.
This is a very bad sign for a young player who should be having an improving statline because he is suppose to be developing his game but it seems like it is happening the other way around for Scottie Thompson.
From debating if he will ever be a competent shooter, the discussion now could be, will he ever be a consistent mediocre scorer? Someone who could provide 6 to 8 points, consistently?
His defense, rebounding ability and playmaking capacity are all there but he is missing the most important ingredient to become a full-blown, face of the franchise.
There is no way that the million fans of Ginebra will embrace him as their new Mark Caguioa / LA Tenorio / Robert Jaworski, if he will fail to exhibit that.
To the author, maybe your knowledge in basketball is very low, maybe if you have time, you should ask or interview some coaches or assistant coaches in PBA comparing a high score that you want versus scoreless, more active in defense etc. Try to read some articles on interview of coach tim cone to be specifically. Defense is the key follow only by offense.
