Even though the Philippine Basketball Association still doesn't have Unrestricted Free-Agency like in the NBA, where players can just choose the team that they want to play for, we should know by now that the players are empowered that they can force their way out of teams.
Raymond Almazan and Chris Banchero were some of the latest examples.
So, the on-going Restricted Free-Agency of Bobby Ray Parks Jr. is an interesting case study. He only signed a two-conference contract with Blackwater and we seldom see that. Why? Because he knows how it works.
He knows that he can force his way into bigger money. It is happening. Even the fans are aware.
If it is only about the money, TNT should be able to match what the San Miguel Corporation can offer.
The problem now of the MVP group is, what if it is not only about the money? What if he intends to play for an SMC team?
In his first match-up with Ginebra, Ray Parks cannot stop himself from sharing how excited he was in facing the most popular ball club in the country. He was also a big fan of Justin Brownlee and coach Tim Cone.
And one glaring sign that he may not be 100% committed in returning to TNT is his Twitter account.
He has played in two franchises already in the PBA but his uniform in his display picture is still the one with San Miguel Alab.
Is that really a big deal? Yes. Social media accounts basically reflects the public image that the person wants to project. And changing a DP is not that hard.
So, why is he keeping that DP? He loves that team.
So, can we assume that he loves San Miguel Corporation more than the MVP group?
You know the answer.

He will surely join the NSD Team, Brgy. Ginebra

ReplyDeleteParks for Tautuaa will be a good trade for TNT.. The latter wants a big man and Tautuaa will fit the bill while SMB getting the service of Parks.. one coaching staff of SMB wanting to get Parks.. that is Alapag, He knows Parks very well since he was in Alab for 3 seasons.. and Parks will fill the lack of pure SF of SMB.. Lassiter is SG not an SF..
