PBA Trade Analysis: Did TNT gave up too much?

In a shocking swap, TNT and Alaska exchanged shooters. TNT will now have Simon Enciso, while Alaska will be getting Mike DiGregorio.

There are rumblings that Alaska was the one who initiated the trade because Enciso wanted a maximum contract that they are not willing to give and that was understandable. Enciso is a great guard but is not really deserving a maximum contract.

This swap is fair, even with the 2023 2nd that Alaska also grabbed.

TEAM ANALYSIS
TNT KA TROPA
Received: Simon Enciso
Sent: Mike DiGregorio and 2023 2nd

TNT basically paid for the size difference of the two, the additional playmaking of Enciso and his better defensive value with a 2nd round pick. Now, both are shooters but they are different. Enciso is more of a volume shooter, averaging 6.3 attempts this season, with 33.3% efficiency.

Enciso is more of capable of making the harder types of three-point shot like off-movement and pull-up threes. And I think that makes him a better fit to TNT than DiGregorio. So, this trade is fine for TNT.

ALASKA ACES
Received: Mike DiGregorio and 2023 2nd
Sent: Simon Enciso

So, Alaska traded an RJ Jazul in the past to get Enciso and now they will exchange it again for a much more efficient shooter with additional 2nd round pick? That is how great businessman do their job. They do small trades and make small gains.

With Maverick Ahanmisi and Jeron Teng there, an efficient catch-and-shoot sniper like Mike will be an awesome addition. He will provide a much better spacing to those big dogs and even to a Vic Manuel.
