After a dominant win against Meralco Bolts in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup Finals to claim the 2019 PBA Governors' Championship, a big question looms for Ginebra.
According to the buzzes around the most popular club in the league, the San Miguel Corporation will back them up more than their two sisters for the upcoming season, so that they could finally claim a grandslam.
One way for SMC to support them is to of course give them great players through a trade. In the trade rumor mill, we have heard about Standhardinger and Jio Jalalon being on their way to Ginebra.
Will that really helps?
If you think about it, a grandslam run will start with overcoming the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Cup. In terms of line-up, San Miguel is still no doubt the deeper team. But, in terms of five-on-five match-up, I do not think there is that much of a difference.
Tenorio, Pringle, Thompson, Aguilar and Slaughter versus Chris Ross, Terrence Romeo, Marcio Lassiter, Arwind Santos and June Mar Fajardo looks fair to me. The addition of Pringle has been a big boost to the fire power of Ginebra.
So, I wonder if they really need to shake-up their roster again by adding a Standhardinger? Especially if you realize the fact that Standhardinger was very honest about his dislike with what happened to him in the loaded roster of the Beermen.
I wonder if keeping the team intact, maintaining the chemistry and camaraderie, is much better in pursuing a grandslam.
The roster of a team will not accomplish a grandslam. You can ask the Beermen about it.
