Coach Tim Cone is not giving up on Slaughter! Why?

Coach Tim Cone will not just sit there and accept the decision of Greg Slaughter. According to the winningest coach in the history of the PBA, he is still on vacation. Once he returns, he will speak with Greg and with his agent.

The question now is, why?

The most realistic reason is for coach Tim to try and explain the nature of the business to Greg. If what is Greg is doing is all about the rumored trade about him, coach Tim may try to persuade him that, being traded is not the end of the world.

I expect Greg to give coach Tim Cone a chance because, before the start of the 2019 Governors' Cup, it was rumored that Greg was about to be shipped to another team. Coach Tim was the one who talked to the management and gave him another shot.

What I am trying to say is, I think coach Tim will talk to him and try to persuade him to accept his fate of being traded.

There is also a good chance that coach Tim will talk to him that he will try to speak to the management so that they give him more leeway. In short, another opportunity.

In the rumor mill, it has been well spoken that coach Tim is fond of having Greg. Maybe, he sees him as a puzzle that he wants to solve. He is the tallest player in the league, so there should be a way to maximize him! Right?

One thing is clear to me. If Ginebra fails to trade him and get the right value or fail to persuade him to return and be with the team for one more season, Ginebra loses a lot!

With the injury to June Mar Fajardo, Barangay Ginebra is the strongest team but not without Greg. They need him there to bully smaller players and defend the other giants.
