PBA Free-Agency: Ginebra and Phoenix are interested to sign a 6'7 center!

Believe it or not but we have two 6'7 centers that are currently on the free-agent market. The first one is Rabeh Al-hussaini, who is currently in Kuwait and at this point,  and we are not aware if he is even planning to return to the Philippines.

The second one is Yousef Taha. This was revealed in an interview of the owner of Blackwater Elite by Joaquin Henson of Philstar. He revealed that they are already loaded and that Taha was only added by the PBA. So, they are more than willing to give up Taha to free-agency and he revealed that Ginebra and Phoenix are interested.

So, why are they interested in a 31 years old center? Simple. He is an agile 6'7 center and that is not easy to find in the PBA.

Last season he averaged 3.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.4 block and 43% FG in 12.4 minutes per game. Yes, not the most impressive but again, it is hard to find players that can withstand the dominating giants of the league like Christian Standhardinger, Ian Sangalang, JP Erram and etc.

So, which team should Yousef choose? 

If he is looking to play in the playoffs, he should choose Ginebra. I do not think Ginebra is targeting him if they are not planning to give him playing time. Joe Devance could miss there first four games, so they need an extra body in their frontline rotation for those games.

I also think that Taha will be a better defensive back-up center than Prince Caperal. So, if they need defense instead of offense, he could be their guy instead of Prince.

Now, if he is looking for playing time, Phoenix Fuel Masters should be his team. Phoenix' frontline depth is very shallow because of the injury to Dave Marcelo and Jake Pascual. They also do not have that much talent in their rotation.

So, if Yousef wants to prove that he is a starting-caliber center in this league, Phoenix is a better team for him.
