The 2021 NBA draft is shaping up to be the biggest draft ever for the Philippines, as two quality names with Filipino heritage are bound to join.
I am talking about Jalen Green, the Filipino-American, who is currently projected as a top 3 pick in that draft. Yes, a half-Filipino is currently projected as a future star of the NBA!
Last month, Jalen Green decided to join the NBA G League's select team. It is a new program where the NBA will help the participants prepare for the NBA.
Just last Monday, Kai Sotto has decided to follow him and join the NBA G League's select team. Kai and Jalen will be teaming up with Isaiah Todd and Daishen Nix.
With his 7'2 height, Kai is currently the tallest participant in the select team and there is also a good chance that he will be the tallest player in the entire G League.
The Select Team will provide training and guidance to the participants. They will not only prepare them for the hardcourt but also for the things that will happen, off-the-court.
To be clear, they will not be playing in the G League tournament but they will play games against several G League teams, national teams and junior national teams.
