No 2nd wave of Coronavirus in the Philippines, anytime soon!

Yesterday, the Philippines recorded 205 new cases and seven new deaths. That makes it five straight days now of 200+ new cases.

So, it is mind-boggling to me that the Malacanang and other top officials of our government, who are heading our fight against this virus, talk about a 2nd wave.

The top officials are supposed to be more informed than us about recognizing waves of infection and there is no evidence at all, that the initial wave of infection is already over!

Just the mere fact that we are still at 200+ new cases every day should tell us that we should not be focusing on avoiding the 2nd wave, but instead, put all our effort in stopping this initial wave!

Before we can even talk about a 2nd wave, we need to at least reduce our daily-rate of confirmed cases below 50. Just like what China and South Korea did.

And it seems like we are very far from that. This May, our daily average is 236.8. Last week we average 245.6!

Of course, the main reason why we are trending up is because of the increased number of tests. And this indicates that there are still a lot of Filipinos out there who are not yet detected.

Even though our test capacity has improved, it is still not enough for us to detect the right amount of cases to find out how serious the current situation of every province.

The fact is, we have lifted the strict quarantine already for almost our entire country. So, just imagine if one of those undetected cases started to mingle again with a lot of other people and contaminated them.

That is not really a 2nd wave of the virus. It is still part of the 1st wave. What happened was, a lot of cases remained undetected, giving them the free-will to infect others.

Stop talking about the 2nd wave because you are trying to imply that we managed to stop the 1st wave, which is a lie!
