PBA Breaking News: Blackwater is leaving the PBA!

In a piece of breaking news, the Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy revealed to Philippine Star that the PBA franchise is now up for sale!

He was quoted in the report with,
I’m open to entertain interested parties as it’s hard for me to continue supporting the PBA when my heart is no longer there.
This news is on the heels of a reported violation by the team run by coach Nash Racela that the owner himself revealed in a  TV5 program, called Sports Page.

That action by the team was not well-received by the PBA as the league gave a letter to the team, asking for an explanation for their decision to practice ahead without any formal date of practice-resumption by the league.

And suddenly, he has put up a price tag for the franchise, worth P150 million.

Some media and fans are saying that the statements from Mr. Sy may just be a knee-jerk reaction to the letter of the PBA.

And before the end of Wednesday, Mr. Sy confirmed to Inquirer that the letter from the PBA and another from the Games and Amusement Board were the ones that broke the camel's back.

He was quoted with the following statements:

I was offended, bullied and pushed to the wall.
We were excited when it was announced that practices would be allowed. We had two players shooting around. What’s wrong with that? What did I violate? This is a non-issue for me and we will get sanctioned for that?

Mr. Sy has been the most outspoken owner in the league, even before his franchise was accepted.

He once told Spin.ph that the league should bring back the 'protected list', which is a list of players that should not be allowed to play together. This is to help keep the parity of the league.

Now, I wonder what happened to his belief in keeping the parity after he traded JP Erram and Ray Parks for questionable returns.

Overall, he also said in the past that he will not trade Ray but Ray ended up with TNT. That could also happen with Blackwater.

He may have said it but it may not happen.

And is Blackwater really worth P150 million when they have a roster led by Mac Belo and Maurice Shaw?
