Japeth Aguilar did not only violate quarantine protocol by playing in a 5-on-5 scrimmage in San Juan in Metro Manila, together with Adrian Wong, Thirdy Ravena and Isaac Go.
According to a report by Spin.ph, the 6'9 center was spotted in San Juan, La Union on June 16, Tuesday. This was a violation of the on-going protocol at that time that only allows residents of La Union or provinces nearby that are under Modified General Community Quarantine to be tourists in the province.
Of course, Japeth is not from La Union or the nearby provinces and he was spotted walking in the seashore and surfing, together with his wife.
Currently, San Juan is still free from any confirmed COVID-19 case, which indicates that Japeth may not have brought the virus.
Nevertheless, questions remain on how the Gilas national team player managed to enter the region 1 province when travel authorization, a medical clearance certificate, and confirmation of booking are needed.
In their infraction in Manila, PBA commissioner Wilie Marcial gave him a P20,000 fine, 14-days quarantine and community service.
Should the Commissioner increase those penalties or can he even level it up?
And how about Mr. Al Francis Chua, what will be his reaction to this?
Checking the twitter of Japeth and his girlfriend, I found a lot of tweets about them donating PPEs to frontliners.
I hope they also do that soon for the frontliners of La Union.
