PBA Trade Rumors Recall: Is CJ Perez to San Miguel Beermen, still a thing?

Here is our on-going series of articles wherein we will recall a trade rumor in the past that did not happen for each team. Again, this is only a recall of past trade gossips. These rumors are not present ones. So, do not expect them to happen or to be refuted anytime soon!

Today, we will focus on the Columbian Dyip. Actually, we do not have that much of a choice of rumor because they only have a few tradeable piece and the only guy that has been part of trade rumors was CJ Perez. 

The rumblings have been pretty specific. It is all about the interest of one of the SMC teams on CJ Perez. 

It started with these two tweets.

So, the first tweet was utilized to tell us that "noodle..." will be referring to CJ Perez. So, in the second tweet, it was said that he was going into a team with an important mission. This rumor was easily dismissed because CJ, the #1 pick of the most recent draft, was not yet eligible to be traded. 

The two tweets above are further exhibits about the rumor. In the first tweet, the clue was LEO, referring to coach Leo Austria of SMB. In the second tweet, he was already telling us that the possible return for CJ will involve Arwind Santos and Ronald Tubid. 

Here is another tweet telling us the possible package for CJ. In this one, the fans took Yolanda as a clue for Arwind Santos because of his song, "bagyo". While Hopkins was used to pointing to Kelly Nabong because of their similarity in looks and with Nabong's image of physicality.

And in the last one, it was basically saying already that Perez is really bound to San Miguel. They are only waiting for the right timing.

WHY IT DID NOT HAPPEN?

This is easy. CJ was not yet eligible to be traded in his first year. The rumblings got stronger this year but there is a good chance that they shelved it because of COVID-19.

SO NOW WHAT?

I hope he will not be traded. The current core of Roosevelt Adams, CJ Perez and Rashawn McCarthy is mouth-watering. Add their deep center rotation and the arrival of Isaac Go and they can easily contend for 3 to 5 years, soon.
