IATF already gave the green light to the PBA to resume practice. Unfortunately, that is still not an assurance that they will let the league return to play. Although, it is not bad to look forward. So, here is another article series that will provide the biggest question for each team as a primer for the possible return of the league.
We will start with Phoenix. A team that loses their biggest start last year, due to a suspension. But in the appearance of coach Louie Alas in a podcast called The Sports Pages, he said that he believes that the suspension of Calvin Abueva will be lifted before the return of the league. He reiterated that Calvin fully cooperated.
Now, if that happens what will you feel?
Hate him or love him, I strongly suspect that all us look at his suspension as too much. He was given an indefinite suspension without knowing the exact parameters of it. He basically accepted that the league will have all the power for his return.
I think that was unfair.
Now, The Beast promised that he will change. He said that he will still maintain his energy but he will already tone down his physicality.
In short, we may see a better version of Calvin Abueva. Calvin is also 32 years old already. So, he has only a few years left to complete his career.
And, am I the only one who is feeling like Calvin's career has been a disappointment?
Add the fact that the PBA universe is craving for basketball and Calvin has been the embodiment of Pinoy basketball.
And the last ingredient could be the entertaining style of Phoenix.
Combine everything and I think Phoenix is worth our support.
