There is no doubt that Mark Caguioa was the one with the longest period of being the face of the Brgy. Ginebra franchise this century.
Even with that, there is also no doubt that there have been years wherein he was the most hated current Ginebra player.
For his peers in the PBA, either his teammates or his opponents, the guy is well respected. He has eight championships with a plethora of awards under his belt, including the 2012 Most Valuable Player.
That is the reason why a lot of young and in-prime players in the league today, still cherished his advice. One of them is Nico Salva, who played in Ginebra from 2015 to 2016.
He said in the 2OT podcast, presented by Smart and Tiebreakertimes, that Mark advice him with this,
Yung mga ginagawa mo rito sa one-on-one, kayang-kaya mo gawin yan diyan sa court. So, that gave me a lot of confidence, na marinig something like that from a legend like him.
In the same episode, Bong Quinto, one of the rising young star of Meralco, also shared an advice from Mark,
He gave that advice after Ginebra won the 2019 Governors' Cup crown over Meralco!
For Salva and Quinto to still value those counsels, shows how well-respected and valued Mark in the PBA.
Love him or hate him, the guy is a legend in the eyes of a lot of the younger PBA players.
