PBA Rumors: A superstar is planning to retire to enter politics?

After months of being silent from the PBA rumor mill, Snow Badua posted a twitter post stating that a "player no longer has heart to play as he might focus on running for public office in San Juan. Clue: Controversial siya na mahilig sa babae."

If we talk about politics, you should have the financial capacity to spend in an election. And for someone to have a chance, popularity is the key. So, at the very least, we should be talking about someone who has been playing for a while in the league.

In the twitter post, the most popular name that they are throwing is James Yap. The first question then is, is he from San Juan?

Because, for someone to run in San Juan, he should be a resident of it. I confirmed that James is from San Juan and he even provided a message to his fellow San Juan residents about this COVID-19.

Now, is he connected to any political figure in San Juan? We have seen a lot of social media posts and interactions between him and Mayor Francis Zamora, a former UAAP basketball player himself.

Actually, that is not his biggest connection. Paul Artadi, considered by many as one of his close friends, is currently serving his 2nd term as a councilor in San Juan!

And Paul was on the same ticket with Mayor Zamora.

If we look at the current contract situation of Yap, it looks like good timing. His current contract with Rain or Shine Elasto Painters will end in 2021, one year before the election.

By that time, James will already be 39 years old, very ripe to finally call it a career.

And to put a nail in the coffin of unlocking this rumor, the clue that was provided is also pointing to him.
