UST Basketball Scandal - A great example of the great inequality in our country?

As the UST players are expected to be returning home, the training-bubble controversy continues to be the biggest discussion of the basketball community in our country.

You know what is not yet said about it? It shows the great inequality in our country. Poor Filipinos are quickly penalized for disobeying IATF guidelines.

Remember the jeepney drivers that were jailed because they were asking for help from strangers? Yes, the one where a senior citizen was a part of.

Remember the reporter that was quickly sent to a police station just because they saw him not wearing his mask, right? And they later found out that it was because he was drinking water.

While rich people are given the right to a due process. Actually, some of them are given the right to not even face any sanction but just media negativity.

In this case, the UST basketball team undoubtedly did something that violated IATF guidelines. An opportunity is given to the UAAP and the government offices that are part of the investigation, to show that the law can be equally applied.

Unfortunately, in the first discussion of their investigation, what they basically did was to point fingers on who should be responsible for tackling the issue and determining the penalty.

GAB does not want to do it. UAAP is making excuses.

Are they afraid?

Right. When the government is facing something bigger, they became afraid like a cat, trying to find the best path to avoid facing the issue. but if they are facing small-time Filipinos, they act like tigers, quickly providing penalties.

Fortunately, the investigation is not yet done. The government agencies facing this conundrum can still wake up and do the right thing.
