The PBA finally has a target date for a possible return. Let us continue our on-going series of articles wherein we will recall a trade rumor in the past that did not happen for each team. Again, this is only a recall of past trade gossips. These rumors are not present ones. So, do not expect them to happen or to be refuted anytime soon!
Today, our focus will be on the Alaska Aces. Last year was pretty unusual for the Aces because we do not usually hear a lot of trade buzzes about Alaska. But last year, Alaska was not performing well. We heard players wanted out. Chris Banchero was one of them and he was traded. There are others but most of them are still with the team.
Other than those, there were quick rumors that are worth recalling. I am talking about this.
The tweet gave out the names of the players involved because it was clear that Alaska was just trying to find the best package for Manuel and Banchero. Phoenix and Alaska were not negotiating at this point. Alaska just tested the waters.
Now, in this one, he provided clues instead of directly naming them. Snow used "clown" as a clue for Greg Slaughter and the muscle man was of course Vic Manuel of Alaska, the "drinking milk".
WHY IT DID NOT HAPPEN?
The Phoenix one did not happen maybe because they failed to agree on a trade. The Ginebra one was explained in the tweet. Ginebra was afraid that Alaska will not let go of Greg.
SO, NOW WHAT?
With their rumored plan of leaving the league, I think the return for Vic Manuel will indicate if they will not do it anymore. If they acquire an in-prime star, it means they can still maintain a team and still want to compete.
