Through the deliberation of the Board of Trustees of the UAAP, they have decided to penalize Aldin Ayo with an indefinite ban.
This is after the investigation conducted by different government agencies pointed to coach Aldin Ayo as the mastermind of the training-bubble in Bohol that violated quarantine protocol.
Now, the indefinite ban is only applicable to the UAAP. That means coach Aldin Ayo can coach in another league.
However, NCAA may not be an option for coach Aldin because according to Spin.ph, no teams in the oldest collegiate league in the country is willing to give him a chance because of what he did.
So, how about the PBA? Which teams should consider him as their future mentor?
#3 Columbian Dyip
No disrespect to coach John Cardel but I do not think anyone is confident that he is the right guy for the job. Coach Aldin Ayo has proven his quality in the amateurs and according to history, that usually translates in the professional league.
If the Dyip franchise is serious about their participation in the PBA, grabbing an Ayo could be a difference-maker.
#2 Rain or Shine Elasto Painters
I think coach Caloy Garcia has one of the hottest coaching seats in the PBA, for a while now. Knowing that financially, Rain or Shine cannot compete with the big conglomerates, they should look for a coach who is good at tactics and strategies and also capable of developing young players.
Coach Aldin has proven himself in those areas. Just this year, coach Aldin went the unusual route of getting prospects from the south. That is how confident he is that he can build them into good players.
Also, he will right away bring back the "bad boy" image of the team because of what he did in the amateur ranks. Beau Belga and coach Aldin in one team? That is money!
#1 Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel
This is not about winning basketball. If that is the only consideration, keeping coach Tim Cone as long as possible is the best thing to do for Ginebra.
But if you think about it, coach Tim Cone is not the type of coach that can bring out a Never-Say-Die team. He is so good that I think the Never-Say-Die spirit became more of a banner than a real aura of the team. They have been a favorite for a while.
Coach Aldin Ayo can bring that out. Coach Aldin will fire-up that patented spirit of the franchise. He is also the type of coach that can find players that are good and mold them, out-of-nowhere.
In short, he is the kind of coach that can bring back the real meaning of the Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel franchise.
And if you are the head of the SMC basketball. How about sending your best coach, Tim Cone, to your flagship franchise who has failed to complete a grandslam for the past five to seven years even though have the most firepower!
