I have a good feeling that the 2020 PBA draft will be a very good one. By the way, if you want to see the majority of the players in this list play this year, watch the upcoming FIBA Asia Qualification tournament.
#1 DYIP: Justine Baltazar (#1 Last Mock)- For the third straight year, the Dyip franchise will hold on to the top pick of the draft. I expect them to go for the top center available and for this draft, Baltazar could be that guy.
#2 NOR: Jason Brickman (#7 Last Mock)- Looking at how bad Nico Elorde Rhenz Subido struggled in the PBA bubble, Northport should be willing to take a point guard and luckily for them, they could be getting the most skilled PG prospect ever.
#3 NLEX: Jamie Malonzo (#3 Last Mock)- Jamie just announced that he plans to enter the 2020 PBA draft and I am willing to bet that he will be a top 3 pick. With the impending retirement of Asi Taulava, grabbing a tall player is a much for NLEX.
#4 NLEX: Kobe Paras (#2 Last Mock)- NLEX have the option of grabbing gigantic centers at this point but I think, they have enough depth in their frontline. So, they should go for talent and of course, Kobe Paras is the guy here.
#5 ROS: Taylor Statham (#10 Last Mock)- I got some words that Statham is seriously considering joining this year's draft and I think he is the right guy for the Elasto Painters. They need a creator and a scorer and Statham is that guy.
#6 MAG: James Laput (#5 Last Mock)- Knowing that the Magnolia is searching for a replacement for Reavis, I think Laput could be their choice. Laput has the length and enough athleticism to be a protege of Reavis.
#7 ALA: Troy Rike (#4 Last Mock)- With the good performance of Abu Tratter, the center position is not that much of a need anymore. But I am pretty sure Alaska recognized the fact that the more centers they have, the better.
#8 MER: Calvin Oftana (#6 Last Mock)- We can say that Oftana to Meralco has been my pet pick this year. I just think that with Meralco's connection to San Beda, Meralco will do everything for Oftana to fall for them.
#9 SMB: Ricci Rivero (#11 Last Mock)- At this point, I think Rivero will fall in the second half of the draft because of his underwhelming performance in UP. Nevertheless, his potential is still very high that San Miguel should be willing to give him a shot.
#10 NOR: Larry Muyang (Returning)- Remember that Northport is heavily connected to Northport. Muyang is a traditional center and at #10, this is a good value pick. He could either be the partner of Standhardinger or a replacement.
#11 PHX: Santi Santillan (#9 Last Mock)- Phoenix is playing very well but they still need a bigman. Santillan could be the best name at this point and I think, he will fit the system of Phoenix, very well. He is a high-IQ player.
#12 BGSM: Jeremiah Gray (#8 Last Mock)- Yes. If this draft is as loaded as possible, there is a good chance that Gray will fall to Ginebra. With Gray's length and height, he could be a versatile present for Ginebra.
