Greg Slaughter made a recent post in his Twitter account, telling the public that the FIBA Asia Games and the playoff run of Ginebra made him itching to play again.
The question now is, if he returns to the PBA, will it be Ginebra?
I actually think that there is a growing number of signs already that he will not be playing for Ginebra again.
#1 The Gilas request
Coach Tab Baldwin told the media last month that they welcome the possibility of having Greg but there was an issue with his situation with Ginebra. Greg told the media last month that he was waiting for a meeting with Ginebra.
It seems like the meeting never happened. Or, if it did materialize, it was not enough for Ginebra to let him play for Gilas.
Even though he is now showing signs that he wants to return to Ginebra, it seems like the management of the franchise is still cold on that idea. Or maybe, it is better to say that we have not heard any rumor or news that Ginebra wants him back.
#2 Coach Tim Cone has been hyping Arvin Tolentino and Prince Caperal
Was it just a coincidence that coach Tim suddenly became a media-booster for Arvin and Prince? These actions by coach Tim were not usual in the past. Also, he was hyping two players that can partner with Japeth Aguilar who can actually handle the center position, pretty well. In short, he is hyping the players that takeover the spot of Greg.
#3 Ginebra is three wins away from a championship
Why should Ginebra want a guy that they can win without? This happened in the past already. If it happens again, is it not way better for Ginebra to just cash-in on the trade value of Greg and sustain their current rotation and scheme?
