Did you enjoy the PBA bubble? I am pretty sure the majority of us did and I think a big reason for that was the feeling that the competition is not overshadowed by a historically dominant team (Fajardo is out) and no lopsided trade happened before the season.
Now that we are entering 2021, the possibility of that to be repeated is still up in the air. The possibility that we could be having the season with the most parity and clarity is really there.
And I believed, that could be the first time this century.
So, what are the things that should happen, or to be more accurate, not happen, for us to have the best season this century, next year?
There are three things.
#1. Standhardinger remains with Northport
#2. None of the top 5 picks in the upcoming draft is traded.
#3. Terrafirma retains CJ Perez, Roosevelt Adams and Isaac Go.
The most important thing for the fans to believed that there is parity in a league is that all the teams are showing that they want to win the championship. It is well and good that Perez just finished his 2nd season with the Dyip franchise.
By accomplishing that, I really believed that Terrafirma is just a season away from erasing the bad memories of their lopsided trades in the past. If they will retain Perez, Go and Adams, I strongly believed that they will be a contender for the playoffs.
You know why? Because they will add a #1 pick again. Kobe Paras or Justine Baltazar or Joshua Munzon or Jamie Malonzo could be coming there way!
Now, the upcoming draft is also so loaded that it will surely give optimism to the five teams at the top of the draft.
Also, it will add another blue-chip prospect to Northport. Yes, they failed to reach the playoffs but if Christian stays with them and with the return of Robert Bolick and the arrival of another elite prospect, it will be hard to see them not getting into the playoffs.
Overall though, those things not happening, is just a dream, for now. I hope the PBA will help us out in realizing it.
