After two grueling games, we finally saw a dominant victory and it was delivered by TNT. It was an 88-67 victory, fueled by RR Pogoy's 18 points and 6 steals performance.
What was really interesting in that game 3 was the fact that it was the lowest point production of TNT and it was a one-sided affair.
It indicates that Ginebra almost literally shot blank during the game. Their 2nd and 4th quarter was a combined 19 points!
Now, the most interesting number for me when I look at their boxscore was the +/-. Plus/minus indicates the difference in the score for the minute that the player was on the court.
For illustration, Tenorio has a sum of -8 for the first three games. It means that for all the minutes that he was in the game, Ginebra was outscored by 8 points.
And you know the players from each team that recorded the lowest +/-?
For TNT, it was Jay Washington at -23. Jay is the main back-up of Erram. I was not shocked by the number because of how slow Jay is on the defensive end. Even his ability to stretch the floor was only effective in game 1 as he failed to deliver a single three-pointer in the last two games.
For Ginebra, it was a tie between Prince Caperal and Jeff Chan. Both recorded -16. They are also both from the bench of Ginebra.
It indicates then that the bench of Ginebra is not delivering properly. The main selling point for the two of them is their three-point shooting and after three games, only one long bomb came from them, combined!
It came from Chan and that means Caperal is currently "bokya" in this series from beyond the arc.
Will this push coach Tim Cone to try his other bench players like Mark Caguioa or Jerrick Balanza? We will find out.
