Congratulations to Ginebra for winning the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup. They entered the PBA bubble as one of the favorites and they played like one from start to finish.
One thing that they proved in this bubble is that they are capable of winning a championship without Justin Brownlee and without the live support of their millions of supporters.
They did that even though they entered the bubble without two of their main cogs. I am talking about Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio.
Tenorio was still recovering from his operation while Aguilar was rumored to be nursing also his injury.
The main issue back then was that the PBA put a deadline of October 10, 2020 for every bubble participant to enter the bubble. Tenorio and Aguilar were at risk of missing that deadline.
So, what did the PBA Governors' did and relayed by the PBA Commissioner?
They erased that deadline and allowed late entrants inside the bubble. Although, anyone who will go out will not be allowed to enter.
Nevertheless, LA Tenorio joined Ginebra in Pampanga by October 08 and Japeth followed a few days after. It means, they did not take advantage of it.
Still, I am pretty sure that it was not a coincidence that they change the rule the moment that they found that Tenorio and Aguilar were at risk of meeting the deadline.
The same rule was the reason why Meralco Bolts did not put Noy Baclao in their 25-man participants. He was injured at that time and by their estimate, he will not be able to meet the deadline. They did not expect the rule-change.
He could have been a game-changer, especially in their semifinals series against Ginebra.
