PBA Controversy: Should PBA allow Kiefer Ravena to play in Japan?

The discussion points this offseason are not only about the superstar trades like Standhardinger to Ginebra, CJ Perez to San Miguel and Calvin Abueva to Magnolia.

We already saw a big coaching change in Rain or Shine. And of course, Greg Slaughter returned to Ginebra, and then traded to Northport.

Now, we have a unique one. A bomb by Snow Badua stated that Kiefer is planning to follow the footsteps of his brother Thirdy Ravena.

There are issues though about it. The biggest is Kiefer just signed a 3-years contract extension last season. So, he is still under contract for two more years.

Although, the buzzes are telling us that NLEX is allowing him to go there. But, he still needs to get the approval of the PBA.

Now, there is a new rumor that Kiefer is already preparing his papers to reach Japan before the end of the month because line-ups in Japan B League will be closing by April, in preparation of the upcoming playoffs.

So, should the PBA allow Kiefer?

I hope they will. It sucks that by allowing this, we will expect more of it in the future. Which will result now in the departure of talents from the league.

But the reality is, the PBA has failed to level up enough to become the Asian league where Asian stars will gravitate to play for.

And with the improving skill levels of our Filipino players, they deserved to try their skills on leagues at higher levels.

By allowing this also, it will open up more jobs and opportunities to other players.
