In this power ranking, I decided to look at the big 3 of each team and compare them against each other. The big 3s were decided by balancing the popularity and quality of the players.
So, which team has the best big 3?
#12 Blackwater - Baser Amer, Ed Daquioag, Andre Paras
The quality of this trio is so low that the bench of the elite teams may have a much better big 3.
#11 Alaska - Jeron Teng, Abu Tratter, Maverick Ahanmisi
I am a fan of Teng because of how big he plays as a guard/creator but in terms of overall talent, I think, this trio lags a little bit behind that of Terrafirma.
#10 Terrafirma - Joshua Munzon, Roosevelt Adams, Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser
Munzon carries this big 3 pretty well. Can Adams finally find himself and be better?
#9 NLEX - Kiefer Ravena, Raul Soyud, Calvin Oftana
With NLEX now being utilized as a farm team, this is now the result. I think Oftana is the real deal and as long as Ravena is there, they will have a chance.
#8 Rain or Shine - Javee Mocon, Rey Nambatac, Beau Belga
Mocon and Nambatac are amazing but their overall production is not as good as that of the guys above them.
#7 Meralco - Chris Newsome, Raymond Almazan, Mac Belo
#7 to #4 is the closest part of this ranking. The history of injuries of Almazan and Belo is the reason why I decided to put them here.
#6 Northport - Greg Slaughter, Sean Anthony, Robert Bollick
An interesting blend of players. There are creative ways where Anthony and Bollick can maximize Slaughter.
#5 Phoenix - Matthew Wright, Vic Manuel, Jason Perkins
If Perkins shoot above 40% again from beyond the arc, this triangle can wreak havoc on offense. Defensively, there are big issues but they can always out-score the opponent.
#4 San Miguel - Junemar Fajardo, Terrence Romeo, Moala Tautuaa
Injury concerns are considered in this ranking and with Fajardo having some issues with healing, I cannot put them in my top 3.
#3 Magnolia - Paul Lee, Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang
Easily the most diverse big 3 in the list. Lee provides elite outside shooting. Abueva is the energetic hustle guy who can create for others. Sangalang is the super-reliable play-finisher who defends pretty well.
#2 TNT - RR Pogoy, JP Erram, Jayson Castro
I decided to put over TNT against Magnolia because defensively, they are a little bit better. Offensively, they can be as lethal.
#1 Brgy. Ginebra - Christian Standhardinger, Stanley Pringle, Japeth Aguilar
Untile Fajardo is healthy, Ginebra is the king of this ranking. Offensively, I do not think any trio can defend them properly for 48 minutes. Defensively, Aguilar's length plus Standhardinger'size is a fortress.
