PBA Analysis: Is SMB's coach Leo Austria, a bad coach?

Ramon Fernandez is considered to be one of the frontrunners to the PBA's Greatest of All Time recognition.

Although, we are also witnessing another strong contender in June Mar Fajardo.

In an interview with Spin.ph, the current president of the Philippine Sports Commission said that San Miguel Beermen should have accomplished a Grand Slam already.

Actually, he was not referring to a single grand slam. According to the legend, the Beermen should have won more than one Grand Slam already!

We all understand where Mr. Fernandez was coming from. The quintet of Fajardo-Santos-Lassiter-Cabagnot-Ross was arguably the most destructive fire in the last decade.

Actually, the moment coach Leo Austria handled them, SMB was basically at the top of the ladder already, in terms of firepower. Remember, that coach Leo even handled the two best giants in the league at one point of this run.

So, why have they failed to capture the Grand Slam?

It is hard to point the blame to the players because the numbers that they have been putting up can speak for themselves.

The guy that is harder to defend is coach Leo Austria.

Is he really a good coach? I wonder. Yes, I do believed that he is excellent in handling egos. But, being elite in one single area of coaching should not be enough to say that you are a good coach.
