According to Snow Badua, Kiefer is willing to put his career on the line as the Shiga Lakestar, the team that he signed with, is planning to elevate Kiefer's case to FIBA.
If Kiefer will be fine with this, this could mean that he is now willing to lose his opportunity of ever playing another game in the PBA.
The way the PBA board has been deciding, it is pretty obvious that the league is not in favor of being a globalize league.
Meaning, they do not want their PBA players to be available to other leagues. Other leagues can pay the players better. Other leagues offer a much higher level of play. Other leagues will provide more fame and fans.
Kiefer should be more than aware that the PBA board right now will not be as forgiving as the other version of the board.
If I am a friend of Kiefer, I will advise him to think carefully about it. He may end up with nothing. I mean, he may end up only being eligible to play in Japan.
But, for the sake of Philippine basketball, I hope he will push it through.
If he wins, he will change the entire basketball landscape of the Philippines, for the better. That way, other players can now comfortably follow his lead.
The skill level of Filipino players will be way better, creating a much better future in basketball.
