PBA Controversy: Is PBA about to ban a lot of young basketball stars?

According to sources, the PBA is contemplating creating three new rules. Three new rules that they may think to help PBA attract young amateur players today.

And to dissuade the current PBA players from playing for another International League.

#1. They are planning to abolish the PBA Rookie Salary Cap. That means a rookie can now sign the maximum contract of the league.

#2. The second one is the reduction of the Draft Dodger rule from 2 years to 1 year. It means any player who is already done with college only has a single year of allowance before being forced to join the PBA rookie draft.

#3.Expiry players who are not going to sign with the team that offers them a contract might get a 5-year ban from the PBA.

Each of those rule is not actually helping the league to become a league that the amateur players would want to play for.

All of those rules are trying to force amateur players to play for the PBA. And if they think that amateur players today are the ones that they can force, I think they will be very wrong.

Like, Justine Baltazar, Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras, Ricci Rivero, the Gomez de Liano brothers and many more may end up being banned.

And even Kai Sotto!

The last five games of Gilas exhibited that stardom in Philippine basketball is not limited to the corners of the PBA.

Filipino basketball fans will shower you with fame if you are representing well our country.

Add the better financial pay and the better quality of leagues, and it seems like those rules will backfire to the PBA.
