Finally, the Philippine Basketball Association is set to start this year's season by July 16, 2021! They will run it much quicker than usual.
So, it is time to introduce my top breakout candidates! These are the guys that will either surpass expectations or overwhelm their previous statistical productions.
We will be doing it by position! We will do the forwards and bigs in this edition!
Forwards
Aris Dionisio
With the retirement of Marc Pingris, Aris will have a better opportunity to showcase that he is one of the future defensive studs in the PBA.
Javee Mocon
Mocon is arguably the most talented player now in Rain or Shine but he may still need to increase his 12.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 1.2 steals, 1.2 blocks and 28% 3FG per game to get more appreciation.
Carl Bryan Cruz
If CBC finally overcomes the injury bug, he may get plenty of opportunities to prove that he is one of the premier 3-and-D forwards in the league.
Bigs
Bradwyn Guinto
According to some sources, Rain or Shine has been interested on Guinto for a while. Guinto has a lot of glimpses in the past that he can be a starter. Will this be his year?
Christian Standhardinger
Standhardinger is already one of the top 10 players in the PBA but has not received enough respect from the fans and national media. Now that he is with Ginebra, those things can happen and he could be ending the MVP streak of Fajardo.
Barkley Ebona
7.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 59% FG per game in the PBA bubble was very good but he looks capable to give more.
