Last week, the league faced their first COVID-19 positive test results and they managed to push true. A good indication that we will finish this tournament.
So, here is our latest power ranking.
#10 NLEX Road Warriors (#9 Last Week)
It is official that Kiefer Ravena will be able to play for the next season of the Japan B League. I am not sure though if playing this All Filipino Cup will result in something fruitful for NLEX.
#9 Northport Batang Pier (#10 Last Week)
The 23 points and 17 rebounds performance of Greg Slaughter against San Miguel surprised a lot of people. Unfortunately, they still ended up with the loss.
#8 Alaska Aces (#8 Last Week)
It is great that their two free-agent signings last offseason are playing great. That made their team of the deepest in the league. Unfortunately, they still have pretty obvious weaknesses that it is hard for me to push them higher. Nevertheless, Yousef Taha looks legit.
#7 Phoenix Fuel Masters (#6 Last Week)
They remain to be heavily reliant on their three-point shooting, which failed them in their first two weeks in the league. Fortunately, Vic Manuel is showing up to be an excellent addition. If their three-point shooting returns soon, we will witness the full form of this team.
#6 TNT Tropang Giga (#3 Last Week)
I am worried about the effect of isolation on them and the potential that their schedule will be so bad once they return to the court.
#5 Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (#6 Last Week)
This team did not change that much under coach Gavina when we talk about their pace. They are still a very slow team. But, their style and their ripe chemistry could be the perfect combination for this tournament and that could be the reason why they are currently undefeated.
#4 Meralco Bolts (#4 Last Week)
I really believed that Meralco could be the most versatile team if they reached the playoffs. If they continue to enhance that versatility, they will be a hard match-up against anyone.
#3 Magnolia Hotshots (#5 Last Week)
Magnolia is still undefeated after winning two close games last week. Their victory against Ginebra was impressive and could be an exhibition that they have the right people in winning a basketball tournament with the ongoing situation. Calvin Abueva has fitted perfectly, averaging 16.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 45% FG per game.
#2 San Miguel Beermen (#2 Last Week)
San Miguel fans should be happy that their overall team performance is not being dragged by the mediocre production of June Mar Fajardo. Although, they still do not look like the team with the most firepower in the league.
#1 Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel (#1 Last Week)
A 1-2 record does not mean that Ginebra is already not the best bet to win the championship this year. Although, Ginebra fans should be worried that one ball may not be enough for Stanley Pringle, Scottie Thompson and Christian Standhardinger.
