Let us have some recall of the Slaughter-Ginebra saga in the past. It all started with the pressure from fans and even the management when Ginebra proved that they can win without Greg.
The fans started to accused Greg as an underachiever and that Ginebra should trade him for another giant. They even saw him as a hindrance during a tournament.
Then Slaughter decided to go for a sabbatical. And of course, his teammates and the team were not happy with what he did that they needed to trade him to preserve the goodwill in the team.
So, Greg entered this year with a big chip on his shoulders. In his first two games, he looks like the top giant in this tournament.
Slaughter produced 19.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 57% FG per game, in their first two games. He was even allowed to shoot threes here in Northport!
The system right now of Northport is not that fluid as it is not that easy to incorporate a different giant. Greg plays and his pace are different from Standhardinger.
Nevertheless, Northport is looking like the dream spot for Greg. He is really the focal point of the team and he has a team that is actually talented enough to win a championship!
I am pretty sure that Greg is salivating to proved that he can win a crown as the leader of a team. And Northport is that team.
He should do everything to remain with Northport.
