The #1 pick has been the most coveted asset in the history of a professional basketball league It does not matter if it is the PBA or the NBA.
In the last two years though, the #1 pick did not live up to the standard. Joshua Munzon did not put up the numbers that we expected him to have and Roosevelt Adams was closer to a bust than a legit starter of a playoff team.
But, the last draft may have shown us that having a top 4 pick is an awesome thing.
And Northport and Terrafirma are currently on schedule for getting another set of top 4 picks. It seems like Terrafirma will not end up with the top pick this time and that is not even that bad.
Blackwater is having a hell of a historic awful run that it is hard to think that they will not have the #1 pick of the upcoming draft.
That could be good news for the San Miguel Corporation teams (Beermen, Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia).
Remember that the rule only covers the #1 pick as protected from trade. Joshua Munzon cannot be traded this season because he is the #1 pick.
The other picks though are not covered. That means Ginebra, San Miguel or Magnolia can trade with their farm teams to get a good pick.
And knowing that Blackwater will be having the #1 pick, Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras, and Dwight Ramos may be interested in joining the draft.
That means, Ginebra, San Miguel or Magnolia could get one of them.
With way things are going in the PBA and Bleague, I'm sure these blue chip prospects would be staying around some 3-4 years more.. There is a lot more money there as compared to our league
ReplyDeletesmc teams lang ba ang team sa PBA, pano yung ibang teams?
