PBA Controversy: Alaska deserves respect more than criticism

I think, almost all the fans of Alaska Aces are disappointed with what the management had been doing this year.

First is of course another failed bid to enter the playoffs of the most recent tournament. Alaska fans had been disappointed with the team's performance in the last few years.

Then, they ended up making a losing trade with Blackwater Elite. They traded Jayvee Casio and Barkley Ebona for Mike Tolomia, a bench player.

And then, the fans found out that they do not have the financial capacity this year to keep Gab Banal happy.

They can only offer a single conference contract and it seems like the money was also cheap.

Even with all those happenings, I think Alaska still deserves more respect than criticism. The reality is, we have been hearing about their financial struggles in the past few years.

But, instead of just selling the franchise, they are trying to keep it afloat and even making excellent moves to compete. I am talking about the signing of Gab Banal as an example.

The fact is, even if Alaska is really eager to compete, if they do not have enough fuel to blast off, they cannot blast off.

But, they deserve respect for not going the route of selling their players for the money. Remember Air 21 and Powerade? Two of the most recent teams that sold their franchises?

They first profited by selling their players and assets.

I think, Alaska wants to continue competing. They are trying their best to keep grinding. That deserves respect.
