Unfortunately, injuries may play a big role in this ongoing tournament. So, how did our ranking change?
#10 Northport (Last #10 last ranking)
Northport has four now on the loss column. They need to at least win five of their last seven games. That will not be an easy thing to do. Especially with a new import.
#9 Rain or Shine (Last #8 last ranking)
I am having a hard time taking them seriously. I have not seen a clear scheme that will propel them to the top.
#8 San Miguel (Last #9 last ranking)
The fit of Vic Manuel is not the only problem of the Beermen. Their import is currently averaging 23.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.8 steals, 44% FG and 28% 3FG per game.
#7 Alaska (Last #7 last ranking)
Number-wise, Alaska actually does not look good offensively. Defensively, it is working. But without an impressive offense, it is hard to trust them.
#6 Phoenix (Last #6 last ranking)
That defeat at the hands of Barangay Ginebra may end up being a crucial one for Phoenix. What is important is the sustained growth of their rookies.
#5 Meralco (Last #5 last ranking)
They finished the job against the Blackwater Elite. Tony Bishop looks good in his first outing, delivering 28 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.
#4 NLEX (Last #4 last ranking)
At the top of the standings is NLEX. For me, they are a legit title contender. KJ is playing like a monster and coach Yeng is driving the team like a genius.
#3 Barangay Ginebra (Last #1 last ranking)
Not having Stanley Pringle will have a big impact on the aspiration of Barangay Ginebra. It is hard to trust them now with a top 2 spot.
#2 TNT (Last #2 last ranking)
I did not anticipate Gab Banal to get that much playing time in his first two games with the team. What I expected though was the abysmal production of their import.
#1 Magnolia (Last #3 last ranking)
Magnolia is playing flawlessly. They delivered a historic 4 turnover game in their most recent match. I think Magnolia found the right import and they know it and maximizing it.
