The decision of the PBA to stop automatic renewal of contracts this 2022 has created the deepest Unrestricted Free Agency class ever in the first three months of the year.
This could also be the reason why we have not heard a trade in the past few weeks. All teams could be focusing on free agency.
According to PBA on the Go, Juami Tiongson is also an Unrestricted Free Agent this year. And that he could be making a decision soon.
So, which team should try to get him?
Terrafirma
He is their starting point guard and there is a good argument that he is their best player this season. If Terrafirma wants to be taken seriously, they should try to keep Juami, as much as possible.
Barangay Ginebra
Adding John Pinto from Meralco Bolts, is a good decision by Ginebra. But, Pinto may have a lesser impact compared to Juami.
Juami is producing 18.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 41% Fg and 36% 3FG per game in this tournament. He is also an excellent shooter and that is the type of guard that Ginebra needs.
Alaska
I know that they are having a very bad financial issue. But, Tiongson could be the type of low-cost star that they can get.
He also seems to be a reasonable guy that they can buy playing for a reputable franchise and being the starting point guard.
