Remember that this year was the first one where we saw the application of the Unrestricted Free Agency rule in the PBA?
It was a monumental year and several names found their way to new squads.
But there is no question that the biggest name was Chris Banchero. Banchero was having his best tournament ever with Phoenix.
Chris produced 18.0 points, 55% FG, 39% 3FG, 3.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.4 steals with the Super LPG franchise.
He was a hot candidate for the Best Player of the Conference award!
So, a lot of Meralco fans were juvial when he decided to go to Meralco. While other PBA fans were jealous.
So, you cannot blame the Meralco fans who were criticizing coach Norman Black as they witnessed him give more minutes to his son than Chris.
What the fans failed to realize though is the reality that chemistry is needed to perform well in the playoffs.
The good-looking guard just arrived this conference and without enough chemistry with his teammates.
