Yes, I am talking about the Rookie of the Year-Most Valuable Player awards which is a feat that is really hard to accomplish.
Are you aware that we have a clear candidate to do that again in Mikey Williams? Yes, the rookie that TNT managed to steal in the previous draft?
Mikey was the main guy of TNT Tropang Giga in their conquest of the 2021 Philippine Cup crown. A historic championship because TNT beat all of the teams of SMC in the playoffs.
But according to Homer Sayson of Spin.ph, Mikey engaged TNT to a contract extension discussion and it seems like, it is not going well.
Should TNT bow down to the pressure of the camp of Mikey?
I think, yes because of two big reasons. Number 1 is their image. If Mikey will leave, he will be their 2nd best guy that left them and it is in back-to-back fashion.
Number 2, Mikey is clearly capable of being the #1 guy of a championship team. This level of a player should not be forced out but embraced.
We saw in this tournament that TNT will falter without enough talent. So, removing Mikey from the team will surely move them to a few years of rebuilding.
