We are less than three weeks away from the 2022 NBA draft where a homegrown full blooded Filipino will try to find a way to one of the 60 picks during that night.
Kai Sotto is currently in America, doing a rounds of workouts for different NBA teams, trying to allure one team that will choose him.
One of the recent news is that he worked out for the Orlando Magic. The same team who currently holds the #1 pick of the draft.
Of course, Orlando will not use the #1 pick on Kai. In this upcoming NBA draft, there are three consensus top pick options in Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero and Jabari Smith.
Other than the #1 pick, Orlando also holds the #32 and #35 pick. Is there a chance that they will reach for Kai at those picks?
Of course yes.
Actually, in the latest mock draft of Sports Illustrated, they already have Kai Sotto at the 49th pick of the Sacramento Kings.
I am pretty sure that it is not a coincidence that Jimmy Alapag is currently the assistant coach of the G League affiliate team of the Kings.
Overall though, if you will ask me if Kai will be drafted, I will say yes.
His agent also revealed that Kai already received a commitment of being drafted. That is most probably in the 2nd round and Sacramento is looking like the type of team who can give him a shot.
