PBA Trade Analysis: Ginebra-Terrafirma trade, how UNFAIR is it?

Just two days after the 2022 PBA Draft, we already have two trades to talk about.

The exchange between NLEX Road Warriors and Converge Fiber was the first one but I think the Ginebra-Terrafirma deal is more interesting.

So, Ginebra traded Brian Enriquez and Javi Gomez de Liano for Jeremiah Gray.

Is this trade fair?

Of course not. If we see them as draft picks, we are talking about a #2 pick for the #8 and #13 picks, exchange.

There is no way that you can see that as a fair trade. You should not get the #2 pick if you will only trade #8 and #13! The value of those picks are way different!

What is very sad here is the reality that Ginebra and the San Miguel Corp. did not even bother trading additional 2nd round picks to make it look more fair to the eyes of the fans.

Now, if we consider the players, it is still a very unfair exchange. Jeremiah Gray could be injured but there is a strong consensus that he has a pretty high potential. Javi is also an interesting prospect but his physical attributes and performances in Japan and in the amateurs do not provide confidence that he has good level of potential.

I will not even talk about Brian Enriquez because he should not get any trade value after rotting in the bench of Ginebra.

There is no way that you can conclude that trade to be fair wherein a team received the second best prospect in the draft just by adding an end-of-the-bench young player and their average #8 pick?

The sad part here is that the commissioner's office did not even bother forcing at least a ,2nd round pick more for Terrafirma. Even Ginebra fans are not happy with the deal.
