PBA Analysis: Boston Celtics of the PBA?

Before the 2022 PBA draft happened, everyone agreed that Phoenix made a mistake in trading their 1st round pick.

Their 2022 season was bad and they let go of a top 5 pick for that. And then, the PBA gifted them with a potentially historic sleeper-catching in the 2nd round.

They first drafted their target, Tyler Tio. And then miraculously, Encho Serrano was still there! And the head-turner of the draft combine, Chris Lalata.

Phoenix did their assignments and we all saw those three rookies gave a superb debut in the league. So, I am pretty sure the Phoenix fans out there are not sweating even though Phoenix traded again their future 1st for Javee Mocon.

Actually, the addition of Mocon makes the line-up of Phoenix a PBA version of that of the Bostion Celtics. With Matthew Wright being their Jayson Tatum. Mocon is added to take the Jaylen Brown role. They also have the highly-skilled Jason Perkins as their Al Horford.

The guy that it seems like they do not have before the season was Marcus Smart. But, Encho Serrano can fit that bill with his elite athleticism and bravado.

Although, Phoenix is not excelling on the side of the court that Boston is dominating. The defense of Phoenix still needs a lot of development before becoming the top defense in the PBA.

Nevertheless, I still enjoy watching them because of how modern their roster is and they have a lot of fun players to watch.
