One of the teams that I suggested is San Miguel Beermen. Lo and behold, a trade happened between San Miguel and Converge, sending Robbie to SMB.
The first question is, is this a fair trade?
Answering this is easy because picks were send back. Robbie produced 10.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 38% FG and 23% 3FG last Governors' Cup.
The numbers are not that appealing but the guy is a legit big 3-and-D wing. And, this type of players are actually hard to find still in the league.
So, getting just two 2nd round picks is disappointing. Did Converge do their due diligence in finding the best trade? We will never know. We did hear them put the guy in the trade block a few days ago. I do not think less than a week is enough to find the best trade.
I actually think that if Converge waited for at least two more weeks, teams will be more desperate to make a change and they could have found a much better deal.
Nevertheless, we also need to consider that Converge needs to make a trade if they successfully sign Maverick Ahanmisi and Abu Tratter to a contract because they will be having eight Fil-Foreigners in the line-up when only seven is allowed.
San Miguel clearly wins this trade in terms of value but in terms of on-court performance, SMB fans should hope that coach Leo Austria will actually maximize this 3-and-D player. If Robbie will only get less than 10 minutes per game, then I do not think those two 2nd round picks are worth it to be given up.
