If you have two of the top 20 players in the PBA during that tournament, you should be battling for a high playoff spot.
That is not the case for Northport Batang Pier who has a legit Most Valuable Player candidate in Robert Bolick and the dominant breakout player, Jamie Malonzo.
The two are putting up insane numbers unapparelled in the entire league.
So, it should be really frustrating to see them fail to reach the playoffs tournament after tournament. Specially now that Blackwater was able to get a playoff ticket in the Philippine Cup!
With a good foundation in hand in terms of superstars, it is pretty logical that the next move should be to change the coach.
That may not be the case knowing the connection of coach Pido Jarencio to the management of Northport and SMC teams.
It is more likely that they will use their sustained bad performance to reason out a trade of one of their two superstars.
I hope I am wrong but the competition at the top for SMC is getting harder with the return of TNT to prominence and with Meralco's rise.
That could push SMC to further improve their teams by adding another superstar.
