PBA Controversy: Magnolia superstar always disappears in the Playoffs?

I am pretty sure that I am not the only one that is currently enjoying the ongoing semifinals. The game 3s last Sunday were bangers!

Now, Snow Badua has put the spotlight again on Paul Lee with a clear remark that the Leethal Weapon is usually not that Leethal during the playoffs.

Fortunately, that is actually easy to check by looking at the numbers.

I first checked his current averages this conference and he is making 13 points, 33% FG, 35% 3FG, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. That is lower than his averages in the elimination round.

For the 2021 Philippine Cup, he manufactured 15.4 points, 35% FG, 28% 3FG, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in the playoffs. In the elimination round, he produced 17.0 points, 32% FG, 30% 3FG, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. As you can see, his playoff numbers are lower again.

Lastly, in the 2019 Philippine Cup, he went for 12.7 points, 40% FG, 26% 3FG, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists in the playoffs. But in the elimination round he was better with his 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 37% FG and 29% 3FG per game.

As you can see, the points have been down in the three Philippine Cup presented above. Although, Paul is not actually that bad to conclude that he disappears in the playoffs. But, we also need to state that a superstar like him is expected to have better outputs in the playoffs.
