PBA Trade ALERT! Barangay Ginebra trade for Jamie Malonzo is another "farm" team move?

So, finally we have the right deal for Jamie Malonzo. The first reported trade was a big one as it also involves the San Miguel Beermen.

But the first trade that was approved was Jamie Malonzo for Prince Caperal, Arvin Tolentino and the 2023 1st of Barangay Ginebra.

Is this a fair trade?

Nope. In another article I already discussed about my analysis of the first rumored package.

To understand why this trade is not fair, you should realize how high the potential of Jamie Malonzo is. There are only two players who average double-double in the most recent Philippine Cup. Junemar Fajardo and Malonzo.

There are only two players who averaged more than three stocks (steals plus blocks) per game. CJ Perez and Malonzo.

The guy is just 26 years old. He is brewing to be the guy that will takeover from Junemar Fajardo. And now he is going to one of the deepest teams in the league.

And he was just traded for a good young player in Tolentino, a bench bigman and a late 1st round pick.

It is not enough. Tolentino can cover 40% of the value of Malonzo because he is only 26 and already a good role-playing shooter. Caperal can only cover 10% because his current role in the Ginebra dictates that it will be unfair to over-projecr his future. And that 1st round pick can be around 15% of Malonzo.

In total, that is 65% only of the value of Malonzo.
