If you are a Meralco fan, I hope you already read my article about the direction of your favorite team.
As what I have reiterated in that article, losing games now and in the next tournament is not bad. The draft was design to help teams who can sacrifice the present for their future.
I think Meralco should think that way and try to think about this trades.
Converge-Meralco
Tyrus Hill and three 2nd round picks for Bong Quinto
The goal is Tyrus and a 1st round pick for Quinto. Now that they are winning, Converge can be encourage to give up a bench player and a 1st round pick for Quinto, a legit starting wing.
Coach Aldin Ayo knows how good Quinto is. Tyrus is a project that I really believe in. And I believe on him so much that if a first round pick is not possible, even adding three 2nds should be enough.
Blackwater-Meralco
2024 BWE 1st for Raymond Almazan
Is Blackwater still connected to the MVP group? Trading Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser tells me that the answer is yes.
Blackwater is playing well now and their upcoming 1st round pick will not be as valuable as in the past.
The story is different for their 2024 1st. Blackwater can return to their old ways and Meralco will harvest it. The trade will also be explainable because Blackwater had a good run last Philippine Cup and still in the thick of things this Commissioner's Cup.
Meralco can then secure the #1 pick. Offer a nice contract for one of Thirdy Ravena, Justine Baltazar and even RJ Abarrientos to return.
