It is quite mind boggling to me that the Philippine basketball today are not enamored already about talking who is its current face?
We just left the era of James Yap and Mark Caguioa. The two guys that battle it out on PBA fans' debate regarding the face of the PBA/Philippine basketball.
In this current era, that is not even a thing anymore. Maybe because Junemar Fajardo suddenly existed and it is quite clear that he is the face because of his dominance?
Now that he is not that dominant because of injuries and that his MVP streak was also over, discussing the Face of Philippine Basketball is again interesting.
I think Scottie Thompson has a good case for it now. We all saw how the fans reacted to him in the most recent window of FIBA Asian Qualifier.
He was the fan favorite. Everytime he got the rebound against the giants of the other teams, Pinoys in the arena and even those who are watching in the Philippines are erupting in joy and in awe.
And to be honest, his play inside the court is a good representation of Filipinos. Hardworking. Giving it all. Never Say Die.
So in my eyes right now, he is the face of Philippine basketball.
